Our redesign of Bonnie Doon started in 2010 with the development of a course master plan, designed to fulfill the promise of a good golf course nowhere near its potential given the quality of the land. It is close to the city and forms part of the Sydney sandbelt with The Lakes and The Australian nearby. The sand is deep and plentiful and the dunes make for interesting, and sometimes dramatic, holes.
With unused land on the western side of the course we added a long par five (14th) and an uphill par three (15th) which freed up land on both the eastern side of the course and the group of six holes ‘over the road.’ The project was ultimately divided into four stages, with the second and fourth stages involving the redevelopment of the remaining holes in the northern block of land while the third stage involved the rebuilding of give holes on the southern block. The fourth stage, which included the first two holes as well as the seventeenth, opened for play in early 2019 to complete a nine year development process.
