Our redesign of Bonnie Doon started in 2010 with the development of a course master plan, designed to fulfill the promise of a good golf course nowhere near its potential given the quality of the land. It is close to the city and forms part of the Sydney sandbelt with The Lakes and The Australian nearby. The sand is deep and plentiful and the dunes make for interesting, and sometimes dramatic, holes.
With unused land on the western side of the course we added a long par five (14th) and an uphill par three (15th) which freed up land on both the eastern side of the course and the group of six holes ‘over the road.’
The project was ultimately divided into four stages, with the most recently completed stage three opening for play in 2017. This included the rebuilding of holes on the southern block of the course and the long but quite narrow rectangle of land now makes for some interesting golf.
To complete the project, the final three holes are to open for play in late 2018 which includes the new first and second holes along the eastern boundary and the much-loved 17th, a short par four playing uphill to a green bordered by a dune on the left.
Scheduled for completion in 2018
